We are SO pleased to have purchased beautiful secondhand western red cedar siding today for about $.30/linear foot! Jeff found the siding on craigslist, and drove less than an hour away to pick it up the same day. It is 6", beveled, clear grade cedar, even better quality than we hoped for, for less than we planned to pay! We are more than pleased! :)
Packed up in the back of Carlos. (Thank you Arrie!!!)

Congrats on that great siding find. It looks beautiful! I just found your blog and look forward to following along :)
ReplyDeleteThank you S, we feel really blessed to have found such a great deal on exactly what we were hoping for, and to salvage it instead of getting newly milled wood was also a dream-come-true since we're trying to reuse and reduce waste throughout our project. Glad you'll be following along, I looked at your blog and it seems that you and B are just getting rolling with the building part--that's where the fun begins! :)
DeleteI love that you are trying to reuse and reduce waste. Your siding proves that you don't have to sacrifice style to do it either! I hope we are able to do the same whenever possible. :) We are excited to start building now that the sun is out!
DeleteKiller steal on the siding! It's going to look great too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! We are very pleased with the find, we're looking forward to seeing what it looks like on the house!
DeleteCongrats! Looking for quality secondhand sidings can be very difficult because most people would want it replaced because it is almost worn out. Some may have even been used a couple more times just to improve the home’s appearance. It was a win-win situation for you guys and the people who sold it. They look really good and still seem to be of good quality.
ReplyDeleteThat's right! Those are really high quality second hand lumber, and most people would sell that at a higher price. Congrats on the great find!
DeleteBeing able to save a lot on any part of the house without sacrificing the quality is great. You'll have the opportunity to spend more on other parts and/or areas that need improvement. I’m jealous of the quality second hand sidings that you found. A deal that cheap is pretty rare.
